/'dɔːm●bɔːd'/

noun

an attachable bedside desk for the college student of today | “why would I leave the bed when I have my dormboard?

IT SWIVELS

It swivels to serve as a desk for when you want to work in bed and swivels around into a nightstand for when you’re done using all your items and don’t want to leave your bed.

IT STORES

It has storage space so you get to store your important items close to you in bed.

IT ADJUSTS

It can also be adjusted to suit different height levels in bed, so use it when you’re sitting up right, slouched, or curled up and it works just fine!

We as DormBoard’s creators always had trouble every time we wanted to work from bed; there was never enough space and it was never comfortable. It got worse when we wanted to take a nap or go to bed and realized we had no platform to place our belongings whilst in bed.

We became convinced that comfort is not a luxury but a choice! We wanted to be able to work from the comfort of our bed without having to share this bed with our stuff, thus we made the choice to bring DormBoard to life. Our vision is to empower others to make comfort a choice.

Conception

After we conceived this vision of for DormBoard, we used our first year entrepreneurship class in Clark University to develop the nooks and crannies of what it could look like, whom it would serve and what it would do. That was when we were convinced comfort is not a luxury but a choice, especially during your college life! We wanted to be able to work from the comfort of our bed without having to share this bed with our possessions, thus we made the choice to bring DormBoard to life. Our vision is to create a lifestyle where people are empowered to make comfort a choice.

Detailing

After the entrepreneurship class was over, we continued fleshing out what it could become. We created a first prototype of it with foamboard. That’s far from what it is now but it was a start.

Developing

From then, we tried out different engineers and designers, trying to get DormBoard just right, until finally we decided to learn how to design DormBoard on our own. We begun with Kent Flowers, and ended with our amazing designer Stefy and finally we got it just right. Or maybe we should leave that to you to tell us if we did.

THINKING OF YOU

What works for you? This question directs our focus through our design journey. We have you in mind as we design how DormBoard should look, what it should do and how it should be packaged.

HANDMADE FOR YOU

Our machines may make the cuts, but our hands sand, file and finish each DormBoard, so expect each DormBoard to have a unique finish.

PRODUCING NEAR YOU

We don’t only keep who you are in mind, but also where you are and thus we try to ensure DormBoard is made wherever it is sold.
